Types of Washing Machines

Wash Size and Capacity

Common settings include cotton, delicates, quick wash, and eco cycles. Some models include steam options, automatic load sensing, detergent auto-dosing, and smart connectivity. Focus on programs you will use regularly rather than paying more for features that add little value to your routine.
Spin Speeds and Noise Levels
The spin speed affects how much water remains on the clothing after completing a wash. Most home washing machines operate at a spin speed between 800 and 1,600 revolutions per minute (RPM). Front loaders usually offer higher spin speeds, which can shorten drying time. Check adjustable spin settings, vibration control, and noise information.
Energy Efficiency & Water Efficiency
Australia’s Energy Rating Label helps compare electricity use between similar washing appliances. Check both the star rating and estimated annual kilowatt-hours (kWh), as models with the same rating may use different amounts.
